The move to Xfinity branding was widely thought to be an attempt to distance from this, but it doesn't seem to have helped much. Our SecurityNerd spoke with an Xfinity representative and found that prices can change, and there are often promotions and deals for bundling. Calling and negotiating price seems like a real option here. I'd like to receive promotional offers & other advertisements from Xfinity via email.
If outside line tampering is of concern then consider using our cellular connection method. Also be aware your Internet connection has the risk of being impacted by a power outage in the home. Playing with pairing a motion detector, I had the sensor paired but then I had to put the cover back on. I now need to find another passcode that is ties to my account that will allow me to remove sensors.
Affordable UL Central Station Alarm Monitoring
These messages are not forwarded to our UL central station for action of logging. Enables wireless alarm signal communication to the central station as the primary or redundant signal path. Your connection to our UL central station will use a standard POTS dial-up line. While this has been used with alarm systems for years it also has the highest risk of tampering by an intruder. Xfinity is a convenient solution to home security if you’re already using the company’s other services and plan to stick with them.
Our simple touchscreen controller brings your security system together, giving you and your family control with a touch. You can control your Xfinity security system using the same remote control that you use for your Comcast cable. With Xfinity Home, you can set up real-time alerts for instant notifications of things happening in your home. As far as equipment quality goes, Xfinity just makes the grade.

Remotely manage and control garage doors via web or mobile apps. View garage door status, receive garage door alerts and close automatically when system is armed. Receive email/text message notifications for any type of alarm reported by the security system. These automated alarm alerts are in addition to the emergency response services provided by our UL central monitoring station. There are several prepackaged options to choose from with Xfinity.
I understand these calls may be made using automated technology, and that I am not required to provide this consent as a condition to purchase any good or service. Overall, we found Xfinity’s monthly monitoring costs to be on par with the industry average. But keep in mind, you’re required to sign a two-year contract, which we never like to see. Also, Xfinity’s customer service could use some improving. You can read more about this in our full review of Xfinity.
Affordable UL Central Station Dispatch
Below are items you will get in a basic Xfinity alarm system, plus upgraded options to bring your smart home to the next level. Remotely control door locks via web or mobile apps, see lock status (locked/unlocked) and receive email/text message notifications when a lock is accessed by a specific user. Moving over to SafeHomeCentral for alarm monitoring is not hard, not complicated and we provide a certificate of UL buglary and fire monitoring for your insurance company.

Xfinity Home security system is installed by a trained technician. The professional installation comes with a variety of advantages and extras. A Comcast technician will come out and provide a personal assessment of your home. You’ll get a customized security recommendation and a tutorial to help you use your system.
Receive email/text message image alerts on images captured during alarms, Daily Views, or Peek-In requests. Create rules to upload and send motion activated images captured during a specific time period. Intelligently trigger arming reminders and events based on Geo-Fence settings and mobile phone location. Receive email/text message notifications for power failures, sensor tampers and malfunctions, panel low battery, and other types of system events. Create different “sub-users” for the account and grant varying levels of permissions for each user to view/change various settings in the Alarm.com online account. I spend a decent chunk of money on extra sensors to cover my home, but we had to move.

It falls behind in home automation compatibility, price and customization when compared to other home security competitors. Just $25 a month for 24 months, or a one-time payment of $600. Just $20 a month for 24 months, or a one-time payment of $480. Just $15 a month for 24 months, or a one-time payment of $360. If the Master Code is used to arm the system then the Installer Code can NOT disarm the system. Yes, all Xfinity security systems come with 24 hour professional monitoring. If an alarm triggers an event, the system will notify the police or other emergency services. Now, it would be nice if all you had to pay was $15 or $20 per month for home security and automation.

He holds a Master’s of Science with an emphasis on writing from the University of Montana, and he currently lives in the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada. Xfinity Home Security is similar to other high-tech brands when it comes to add-ons and customizations. That is, you can enhance your system with a number of additional devices.
There are two codes all DIY homeowners should know related to their security system, the Installer Code, and Master Code. It’s certainly more convenient than pulling out your smartphone and opening the companion app to arm or disarm your system or control other commands. But for now, it’s important to know that these prices are about 15% higher than the industry average. This cost wasn’t a deal-breaker for us, as we expected Xfinity to perform well with modern devices like touchscreen control panels and advanced smart home automation features. Use a cellular carrier (Verizon for CDMA and AT&T for GSM) for a fast, lower risk connection to our central station.

The most basic Xfinity Home Secure package includes professional monitoring, three door and window sensors, a touchscreen control, motion sensor, and a keypad. Additional services and pieces of equipment can be added on to create a more tailored system. Xfinity is a reliable way to keep an eye on your home with an array of equipment from cameras to pet-friendly motion sensors. While it is pricier than other systems, it may benefit you to bundle the system together with your cable and internet to save money. Although representatives couldn’t tell SecurityNerd exactly how much customers save by bundling, they say the more you buy, the better the price. If you don’t mind contracts and like having your home security and cable bill conveniently bundled together, Xfinity Home could be a good choice.
